Ebonyi gov’s wife wins best performing first lady

The wife of the Ebonyi State Governor, Mary-Maudline Ogbonna Nwifuru, has won the 2024 African Iconic Recognition Women Awards, as the best-performing First Lady in Nigeria.

Mrs Nwifuru won the award on May 23 in an event organised by the African Iconic Women, held at Transcorp Hilton, Abuja.
The Ebonyi First Lady, in her remarks, stated that the award was a testament to the collective efforts of all those who have supported and worked in pursuit of progress and prosperity for Nigeria.

She maintained that it wasn’t only her dedication and commitment that earned her the award, but the hard work and dedication of countless first ladies across Nigeria, who are striving tirelessly to make a difference in the lives of citizens.

Mrs Nwifuru said: “My solemn commitment is to serve the people of my state with passion, integrity and unwavering determination to effect positive change and to uplift the marginalised, as well as to give a voice to the voiceless.

“Through my Foundation, Better Health for Rural Women, Children and Internally Displaced (BERWO), we have implemented initiatives aimed at improving healthcare, promoting education, empowering women and youth and addressing the pressing social and economic challenges facing our nation.”

The Ebonyi governor’s wife promised to be committed and work tirelessly in the interest of every citizen of the state to champion their potential and contribute to the greatness of Nigeria.
