FIFA has appointed Egyptian referee Omar Amin Mohamed Amin Mohamed to officiate Nigeria’s 2026 World Cup qualifier against Benin at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on 14 October.

He will be assisted by countrymen Mahmoud Ahmed Kamel and Ahmed Aboulergal, with Ali Ahmed Tawfik Teleb as the fourth official. Jason Joseph Damoo from Seychelles will serve as the referee assessor, while Ghana’s Prosper Harrison Addo is the match commissioner, and Xolile Nokuthula Vilakati from Eswatini will be the security officer.

The match, set for 5 PM local time, is crucial for the Super Eagles, who are trying to keep their qualification hopes alive after FIFA sanctioned South Africa for fielding an ineligible player.

This decision overturned South Africa’s recent victory over Lesotho, ranking Benin and South Africa joint top with 14 points, followed by Nigeria and Rwanda with 11 points each. Lesotho has nine points, while Zimbabwe is already eliminated with four points.
