Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has called for a peaceful electoral process ahead of the 2026 governorship poll in the state, saying that the campaign should be about idea and not violence.

The governor made the remark yesterday, during a statewide broadcast aired on all electronic media channels to commemorate the 29th anniversary of Ekiti State and the 65th anniversary of Nigeria’s independence.

Oyebanji, however, appealed to political parties, political leaders and their supporters to conduct themselves peacefully as the state is already in the campaign mood ahead of the parties’ primary elections later this year and the main governorship election in June next year.

The governor, who expressed delight in the various achievements recorded across the six-pillar development agenda by his administration, disclosed that he would appear before the Ekiti State House of Assembly to give a full account of his stewardship on October 16, 2025, calling on Ekiti citizens at home and abroad for their continued support.

He equally expressed his appreciation to members of the National Assembly, under the leadership of Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele, House of Assembly members, under the leadership of Adeoye Aribasoye, and the judiciary, under the leadership of the Chief Judge, Justice Adekanye Lekan Ogunmoye, for their support to his administration.

Meanwhile, Oyebanji has unveiled his giant strides and developmental growth since he came into the saddle in the state, reiterating his administration’s commitment to make Ekiti State the new investment destination in Nigeria.

The governor said that the Ekiti State Government had undertaken a combination of transformative policy decisions and pushed critical infrastructure development to a new height.

Oyebanji, who spoke during the 13th edition of the Marketing Edge Awards and Dinner ceremony, represented by his Chief of Staff, Niyi Adebayo, at Sheraton Balmoral Convention Centre in Lagos, declared that advertising remains a powerful catalyst for economic growth because of its role in stimulating consumer demand for goods and services across the world.
