No fewer than 33 vital projects are ready for inauguration across the 10 local councils in Akwa Ibom North-West Senatorial District this month.
Speaking with newsmen, yesterday, in Uyo, Sen. Chris Ekpenyong (Akwa Ibom North-West/Ikot Ekpene) described his stint in the senate as eventful and worthwhile.
He said the period brought him closer to the grassroots to understand their feelings and challenges.
Quashing any idea of his going for second term in the senate, the former deputy governor thanked God for the grace for “performing above average” in the four years he sat in the red chamber.
Ekpenyong said he originated and sponsored some bills seeking “to bring development projects to the state” and assured that before his tenure lapses in 2023, “the people will experience the full impact of my representation.”
He listed the projects for commissioning to include skill acquisition centre, solar-powered water project, renovation of markets and schools, construction of classroom blocks and roads.
Ahead of the 2023 general elections, Ekpenyong warned the electorate against sentiments in making choices, adding: “Nigeria is in dire need of patriotic and capable leaders with the zeal to reinvent the country.
“I was sent by my people and I am happy to report progress that several development projects have been attracted alongside bills that will improve the standard of living in our communities and the people,” he said.
