KADUNA State governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, has urged women to promote peace and assist to prevent violence during and after the polls.

El-Rufai, who addressed APC women in Kaduna, said they constitute a larger part of the electorate and are catalysts for change.

According to him, the purpose of the gathering was to ensure their contributions to the development of the state.

He, however, urged them to promote peace and prevent violence during and after the elections.

Earlier, the convener of the summit and wife of the governorship candidate, Mrs. Asia Ahmed El-Rufai, said, “I am particularly encouraging women to participate in governance, because we form a large number of the electorate.”

“For us to be able to take advantage of the wind of change, we must unite as women, putting aside our differences so that we can focus on nation building,” she added.
