Community Development Awards Foundation, organisers of the annual Ikorodu Community Development Awards (ICDA), has announced the commencement of nominations for the 2016 edition, slated for Saturday, April 30, 2016 at the Ikorodu Ultra-modern Town Hall.

The Award, a community development initiative of the Directorate of National Transformation (DNT) of The Redeemed Evangelical Mission (TREM) Liberty Centre, Ikorodu through the Ikorodu Community Development Awards Foundation, has improved since its debut in 2013, with notable Ikorodu indigenes and key stakeholders donating some of the award categories.

The annual ICDA award is meant to celebrate resident of Ikorodu division or indigenes of the town that are making the community proud outside the division. It will also reward institutions and corporate organisations doing the entire Ikorodu division proud.

Recently, the Majority Leader, Lagos State House of Assembly, Sinai Agunbiade, threw his weight behind the awards by donating the Community Development Association (CDA) Award.

Also, His Royal Majesty, Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi gave his royal endorsement during a courtesy visit to the palace.
Presiding Bishop of TREM, Mike Okonkwo has also admonished Churches to do more than preaching by contributing practically to the development of their immediate environment and community at large.

In the same vein, chairman of the foundation, the coordinating arm of the award programme, Austin Awulonu hinted that it has been encouraged to sustain the award by the positive comments and feedbacks received from residents of Ikorodu since 2013 when the award was first held.

He charged Ikorodu indigenes and residents to support the foundation in its efforts at promoting responsible community citizenry by nominating individuals and institutions they believe are contributing to the development of Ikorodu division for the 2016 edition of the awards.

The 2016 award categories include, the Bishop Mike Okonkwo Award for the Most Outstanding Secondary School; Rhoda Youth Award for Student with Best WASSCE result; Female Student with best WASSCE result; sports; arts & entertainment; Hon. S.O.B. Agunbiade Award for the Most Outstanding CDA; Market of the Year; and Garage of the Year, among others.

Members of the public are enjoined to nominate their choice candidates/institutions by SMS via the ICDA dedicated phone numbers 09054789731 and 08146286725 or via email to icdanominations@gmail.com not later than midnight, March 18t, 2016 when nominations closes.
