Etsu Nupe charges Nigerians on religious harmony
TO curb religious crisis, the Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, has appealed to Nigerians to sustain the present inter-religious harmony.
The royal father who made the appeal while commissioning Alhaji Isa Kutepa Mosque and Quranic School in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital said sustained peace is the only panacea for growth and development.
Abubakar, who spoke on the background that non-Moslems also made contributions to the successful completion of the mosque and school, said such cooperation when sustained will help unite the country and reduce religious strife.
The monarch charged government and individuals to build places of learning and worship, saying that the country needs institutions of moral and spiritual rebirth at the moment.
Abubakar charged parents to show concern for their children’s education and spiritual growth, adding that the upbringing of children should not be left in the hands of government alone, it is a collective responsibility.
He congratulated the donor, Alhaji Abdulrazaq Isa Kutepa, even as he urged people to emulate him.
Kogi State Governor, Captain Idris Wada, commended Kutepa for the gesture.
Wada said his administration has included religion and education in its transformation agenda.
Speaking, Alhaji Kutepa, the Chairman, Waltersmith Pertoman, said the decision to build the mosque was to honour his late father, Alhaji Isa Kutepa, a first generation councilor in Lokoja who died in 1986.
Kutepa said the mosque is equipped with two blocks of classrooms and state-of-the-art facilities.
