THE Coordinator of Ijaw Monitoring Group (IMG) Comrade Joseph Evah has described as baseless the recent condemnation of Chief Edwin K. Clark over his recent comments on former President Goodluck Jonathan.
In a statement yesterday, the Niger Delta activist described Chief Clark as the best father of the former president, adding that the Ijaw national leader would continue to be the last man standing for Jonathan.
“The media should stop twisting the story to promote their papers. As a true father, Chief E.K. Clark never clapped hands for Goodluck Jonathan in everything he did while in power. I remember that Chief Clark openly opposed the former president when he was unable to stop Bamanga Tukur from taking the PDP to the 2015 election when the governors ganged up against him. Chief Clark also openly condemned the former president for accepting the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega’s proposals to the Presidency ahead of the 2015 election, especially the adoption of the Card Reader for the first time, and we are all aware that the same Card Reader did not recognise Jonathan’s finger prints on election day,” he said.
According to Evah, “only a true father of the nation can use the factors that failed his son to remind others to learn from the mistakes of his son. Our national leader can never betray Goodluck Jonathan for whatsoever reason. God used the activities of E.K. Clark to return Jonathan and his family back home safely. Jonathan was caged by demonic sycophants while in power; it was the likes of E.K. Clark that saved him from total destruction.”
The former Publicity Secretary of Ijaw National Congress (INC) further said: “I also openly criticised the former President in the press when he attempted to remove the former NSA, General Owoye Azazi to please some people, yet Jonathan went ahead to remove Azazi.
Does that make me a betrayer? After the removal of Azazi, what happened? Did Jonathan not regret it?”
