Experts Blame Stakeholders For Rot In Education

EXPERTS have blamed stakeholders, including government, teachers, education administrators, students, clergymen and parents, for the decay and rot in the nation’s system of education.

Speaking in Lagos during the 50th year anniversary of Home Science Association (HSA), the experts stated that the nation’s pervasive corruption, erosive value system, lack of good governance, bad policy implementation and the over importance placed on certificates engineered by aforementioned stakeholders have affected the educational system in a negative manner.

Delivering her address with the theme “Relevance and Adequacy of Nigerian Education System to Globalisation”, the Guest Speaker at the occasion, Prof. Ajike Osanyin, explained that “there is organised chaos in the country for the benefit of those who reap out of the chaos,” adding that “ educational institutions are caught in the web of myriad manifestation of corruption and politisation of every Nigerian life.”

President of HSA, Mrs. Folashade Bakare, stated that the anniversary was worth celebrating, as the HSA Nursery and Primary School started by the association 50 years ago in Ikoyi, Lagos, has grown in leaps and bounds.
