Experts have emphasised the importance of post-operative (post-op) care in the overall post-procedure recovery of a patient.

Medical practitioner, Dr Adejoke Erinle speaking at the launch of 360 Recovery and Wellness Center in Lekki, Lagos, explained that how a patient recovers post procedure most times reveals to doctors if a patient would return back to optimal health and how to address complications if it arises.

Founder, 360 Recovery and Wellness Center, Adeze Anyibama explained that the center is a one-stop shop facility designed to assist clients recover from surgical procedures.

She noted that it’s the first of this scale in Nigeria with a focus on general wellness, which includes, physical, psychological, mental wellness and not just body contouring.

“You discover that a lot of people go through this procedure and it looks like they have healed and gotten the best result possible but if some more effort could be put into their recovery process, they would enjoy more benefits from that procedure,” she said.

She added that their services cover transportation, healthy feeding, drug prescription purchase, in-house physicians, therapy, and personal caregivers.

She noted that a personal experience and the ability to identify the vacuum in the industry in providing post-op care was the inspiration behind the wellness home.

According to her, before setting up the home, she engaged in research to identify the available market and learnt the techniques needed for the business.

She noted that periodically, the center would invite therapists from around the world to train and update their skills in the sector.

Anyibama called on the government to regulate the industry and make investing in the industry easy.

Physician and Liposuction Specialist, Dr. Akeem Anifowose, said, “The reason why we do not have this kind of facility in the country is because Liposuction is a luxury procedure. After such surgeries, the best place to stay is a recovery home where there are doctors and nurses to look after you. They provide facilities that the doctor may not have. These are specialised services that would make the work we do look better and last better,” he said.

Manager, 360 Wellness and Recovery Center, Temiloluwa Osiyoye, said, “We help our clients get their prescribed drugs, find out from their doctors what they ought to eat and what they ought not to eat, what time of the day to take their medication so they don’t forget because there is a person assigned to each client whose job it is to ensure that clients take what they need to at the time the are supposed to take it.”
