Fintiri submits eight bills to Adamawa Assembly
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, of Adamawa State has submitted eight new bills to the state House of Assembly.
The bills which were received and read at the plenary session by the Speaker of the Assembly, Bathiya Wesley, include a bill for a law to repeal the Adamawa State Accounting Amendment Law of number 22 of 2018, a bill for a law to repeal the State Condition of Service for Registrars, Court Clerks and Bailiffs Law number 8 of 2018, a bill for a law to amend the State and Local Government Audit Law 2021.
Others are, a bill for a law to amend the State Debt Management Agency Law 2011, a bill for a law to amend the Adamawa Public Procurement law 2013, a bill for a law to repeal the State new Condition of Service for Magistrate, Area Court Judges, Law Officers, and Legal Officers Law number 11 of 2006
Others include a bill for a law to repeal the Adamawa State Condition of Service for Staff of Legislature Law number 6 of 2010 and a bill for a law to amend the State Fiscal Responsibility Commission repeal and enact law 2018.
The bills to be debated in the coming days are expected to address key areas of governance and development across the state.
In a letter that was read on the floor of the house by the speaker, the governor requested the assembly to consider and legislate on all the bills.
Shortly after the bills were read to the hearing of the members, the member representing the Damsa constituency, who also doubles as the Majority Leader, Kate Raymond Mamuno moved a separate motion for the first reading of the entire bills, which was unanimously supported by most of the members.
Some of the members expressed their readiness to give the bills the accelerated hearings they deserve in the interest of the state.
The bills are part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the state’s legal framework and improve the well-being of its citizens.
