As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, Engineering Automation Technology Limited (EATECH), an indigenous oil and gas company, has donated state-of-the-art science laboratories to Esteem Schools Abak, in Akwa Ibom State.
The donation, which includes fully built and furnished laboratories for chemistry, physics, and biology, is aimed at enhancing science education and providing students with hands-on experience in line with global academic standards.
Speaking during the official inauguration of the facilities, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of EATECH, Dr Emmanuel Okon, underscored the transformative role of education in society, particularly in the areas of science and technology.
“The challenge to society is ignorance, and the solution to this is knowledge,” he said, urging the students to make maximum use of the laboratories and preserve them for future generations.
Okon further announced the company’s commitment to establishing a fully equipped Computer-Based Test (CBT) Centre at the school.
He said the centre would empower students to participate in technology-driven assessments and acquire vital Information and Communication Technology (ICT) skills, including coding, robotics, Artificial Intelligence, and programming.
He added that EATECH would also provide Information and Communication Technology (ICT) training for both staff and students to build digital competencies essential for modern education and the workplace.
