Firm to scale up sugar production in Nigeria
To scale up sugar production in the country, Crystal Sugar has concluded plans to establish a sugar factory in Jigawa State.
The signing of a technical agreement between Crystal Sugar and Kenana Engineering and Technical Services West Africa (KETSWA) was done recently.
The plant, when completed has the capacity to crush 1500 ton of sugarcane and 150 ton of refined sugar per day and will generate about 3000 direct jobs.
The Chairman, Crystal Sugar, Alh. Muhammed Sani said, yesterday, at a briefing that most of the factory components are ready. He assured the project will be completed in two years.
Responding, Managing Director, KETSWA, Engr. Mulhim Eltayeb, disclosed that the agreement with Crystal Sugar includes transferring the knowledge it has accumulated over 40 years, as the biggest sugar company in Africa to Nigerians.
