Five dead, scores abducted as bandits attack mosque Zamfara

Suspected armed bandits have killed five worshipers and abducted several others during an early morning attack on a mosque in Yan Doto community, Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

The Guardian gathered that the attackers stormed the mosque at about 5:30 am on Friday, surrounding the worshipers as they performed morning prayers.

A resident, Malam Jamilu Yandoto, told journalists in a telephone interview that the bandits blocked the mosque and opened fire on worshipers before abducting many.
“Presently, we have lost five people, and we are making arrangements to take those who sustained injuries to Gusau for treatment,” he said.

According to him, several victims sustained gunshot injuries during the attack and remain in critical condition.

Yan Doto is the hometown of prominent politician Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa and is located about 31.6 kilometers from Gusau, the state capital.

Efforts to reach the state police spokesperson, DSP Yazid Abubakar, were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report
