Health workers at the Federal Medical Centre, Owo, have called on the Ondo State Government and security agents to secure the release of one of them, Mrs Queen Adeyeye, who was kidnapped by unknown gunmen last Saturday.

FMC-Health workers at the Federal Medical Centre, Owo, have called on the Ondo State Government and security agents to secure the release of one of them, Mrs Queen Adeyeye, who was kidnapped by unknown gunmen last Saturday.

Chairman of Medical and Dental Consultant Association of Nigeria, Owo chapter, Dr. Opeyemi Komolafe who made the call yesterday at a press conference, also lamented the insecurity which members of staff of the hospital were exposed to

The victim, a pharmacist is a deputy director in the Department of Pharmaceutical Services. She was reportedly abducted when returning home from vigil with his son and sister on Saturday.

According to Komolafe, “It was more pathetic and traumatic to note that this ugly event coincided with the first anniversary of the demise of the husband of this dutiful and poor widow.”

Komolafe revealed that the victim’s late husband was a medical doctor in the service of Ondo State government until his demise last year, lamenting that the responsibility of the children has rested solely on her shoulder alone.

“This incident has brought to the fore the state of insecurity in out country in general and our community in particular that all members of staff of this hospital are exposed”, he said

Komolafee said a family member informed them that the kidnappers had contacted the family but not willing to speak further on it, leaving their members to live with the fear of the unknown.

“We call on the Chief Security Officer of the State, our own Caring Heart Governor of Ondo State, His Excellecy, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko and the Federal Government through their various security agencies not to withhold any effort to ensure the immediate rescue of Pharm. Queen Adeyeye. “
