A former Director General (DG) of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Major General Maharazu Tsiga (retr), has been freed from captivity after being held for 56 days.

Tsiga was kidnapped on February 5, 2025, in his hometown of Tsiga, Bakori Local Council Area of Katsina State.

He was kidnapped alongside nine other residents.

However, after payment of ransom by his family, his abductors still held him captive for weeks.

A security expert, Deji Adesogan, confirmed Tsiga’s release to The Guardian.

A source said N60 million was paid for his release but another source claimed that the money paid for his release is thrice higher than the figure.
