The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the Federal Fire Service (FFS) have formed a partnership to eliminate fire-related accidents on Nigerian roads. The collaboration followed a series of road traffic crashes that resulted in fire outbreaks.
The partnership, which was formalised by the Corps Marshal of the FRSC, Shehu Mohammed, and the Controller-General of the FFS, Jaji Olola Abdulganiyu, at the FRSC’s national headquarters, will see both agencies jointly train their personnel, conduct joint enforcement patrols, and improve data sharing to enhance response times and operational efficiency.
During the meeting, the Controller-General of the Federal Fire Service emphasised the agency’s commitment to safeguarding life and property. He expressed confidence that the partnership would significantly improve both agencies’ ability to respond to fire-related emergencies on the roads.
In response, the FRSC Corps Marshal highlighted that the collaboration reflects the Corps’ dedication to road safety and its resolve to implement innovative solutions to the challenges facing the nation’s transportation sector. He stated that by combining their expertise and resources, both agencies would reduce the risk of fire-related accidents and make roads safer for all users.
Mohammed said the joint training programme will equip personnel from both agencies with essential fire prevention, firefighting, and emergency response skills. The partnership will also facilitate better data sharing and more effective patrol operations, further improving the agencies’ ability to respond to emergencies.
