Fulani leaders set up surveillance committee on herdsmen, farmers’ crisis
Worried by the incessant crisis between Fulani herdsmen and farmers over destruction farm holdings by grazing cattle, the leadership of the Fulani Community in the Southwest has set up a surveillance committee to liaise with the affected farmers and herdsmen with a view to dousing the tension.
The committee will, as part of its mandate, assess the damages to affected farm holdings by the itinerant Fulani herdsmen and work out the level of commensurate compensation for the victims.
Leader of the Fulani Community in the Southwest, the Sardaunan Yamma, Alhaji Haruna Maiyasin, who is also the Sarkin Sasa of Ibadanland disclosed this while hosting a meeting between Fulani herdsmen and farmers from Iwo, Osun state, in Ibadan, Maiyasin who canvassed for dialogue between the Fulani herdsmen and farmers noted that this is the enduring solution to the recurring crisis.
