National Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdulahi Ganduje, has called for enhanced political and economic ties with the Democratic Republic of North Korea.
At a parley with the North Korean envoy to Nigeria, Jon Tong Chol, he maintained that strengthening the relationship between the two countries would be in the best interest of the people.
Ganduje singled out party followership and leadership recruitment process in the East Asian nation as an area worth emulating.
His words: “Every effort from various aspects of development should be encouraged. We need to share experiences. The dichotomy between capitalism and socialism has become less since the demise of the Soviet Union.
“The issue of ideology is squarely on the development of the people. So, we welcome good relationships between your country and APC in Nigeria. We will welcome invitations by your country, and also invite officials from your party in Nigeria.
“It is important we compare the subtraction for political parties. It is important to compare the functions of the political parties. It is important to compare the role of the political party in governance.”
Responding, Ambassador Chol said it was heartwarming to know that Nigeria is now politically stable amid recent challenges.
He said: “It is apparent that the new administration is making progress in the fields of national security and revival of the economy.
“I see that Nigeria is now politically stable, and we see the achievements made in the fight against terrorists.
“The ruling political party of Korea, which is the Workers Party of Korea, wishes to strengthen ties with your political party.
“So far, we have a sustained cooperation and collaboration between the parties. But we still lack some substance. The Workers Party of Korea prioritises expanding relations with the ruling parties of Nigeria.
“The Workers Party of Korea has successfully led the Korean people to successfully build a socialist country without any derailment in guiding the popular masses.”
He, thereby, charged the APC on exchange of delegation, concrete relations and cooperation.
