The Ghana Police Service has announced the arrest of individuals involved in electoral malpractices in the ongoing elections in Ghana.
In a statement, the police announced the arrest of one Michael Allotey, at the St. Theresa School polling station in the Okaikwei South Constituency, Accra, for carrying a weapon during the elections.
Also, an official of the electoral commission in Kintampo South, Dery Joseph, was arrested for allegedly issuing about 15 ballot papers to voters that excluded Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
In another development, the police arrested four suspects in connection to a shooting incident at Nyankpala in the Northern Region of Ghana that left one person dead and another injured.
The police identified the suspects as Majid Issah, Fodi Issiage Kamara, Yakubu Simalia, and Alhaji Bashiru Mohamed.
The suspects, who are now in custody, are assisting investigations to uncover the circumstances that led to the tragic event.
Meanwhile, the body of the deceased has been deposited at the morgue, while the injured victim is receiving treatment at a hospital.
