Gov. Mohammed Abubakar of Bauchi State says his administration will be labour-friendly to enable workers carry out their responsibilities with ease.

Abubakar gave the assurance when he received the state officials of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) led by its Chairman, Comrade Hashimu Gital in Bauchi on Tuesday.

The NLC delegation was in government house to present a letter of commendation to the governor from its National secretariat.

He assured that he would pay the outstanding salary arrears inherited from the last administration to ease the hardship being experienced by workers.

Abubakar said the administration had initiated steps to enable it borrow to solves some of the state government’s immediate needs.

He appealed to the members of the state assembly to grant quick passage of bills on such requests that would soon be presented before them by the executive arm.

The governor said that delay in passing of such bills would be retrogressive to the efforts being made by the executive arm to clear backlog of workers salaries.

He commended the organised labour for commending him for taking care of workers welfare.

Gital had earlier said that the commendation letter was issued by the national secretariat of the NLC.

He said that the commendation followed settlement of backlog of workers salaries by the present administration.

The NLC chairman commended the governor for settling the backlog of salaries within the first three months of his administration.

He called on the governor to also tackle the payment of gratuities of retired civil servants.
