Gov. Yari of Zamfara lauds security agents and INEC
Gov. Abdul’aziz Yari of Zamfara has commended the effort of security personnel and officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over their conduct in the ongoing gubernatorial elections in the state.
Yari, who is also the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the ongoing polls in the state, made the commendation shortly after his accreditation at Rumfar Malam Isah polling unit in Talata-Mafara local government area.
He said that without security personnel at the polling unit, there would be no order, adding that INEC officials were prompt for the voter accreditation.
The governor further said that he received reports that the election was going on peacefully in other local government areas of the state.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), however, reports low voter turnout in some villages when compared to the situation during the March 28 presidential and National Assembly elections.
NAN observed that some people continued with their daily business activities in spite of the ongoing gubernatorial election.
