THE Ministry of Communications has refuted reports in some quarters that it was planning to handover the Nigeria Postal Service (NIPOST) to foreigners in an effort targeted at repositioning it.

According to the ministry, government had no plan whatsoever to neither privatise the postal agency nor hand it over to foreigners to manage.

The position was yesterday contained in a statement by Victor Oluwadamilare, the Special Assistant (Media) to the Minister of Communications, Adebayo Shittu.

“Ordinarily, we would have ignored the innuendoes, as there is no iota of truth in the said story, except for the likelihood of Nigerians being misled on our genuine intentions to reposition and revitalise NIPOST.

“In putting the records straight, the government of the day has no plan whatsoever to neither privatise NIPOST nor hand it over to foreigners to manage.
