okiro iiThe Africa Youth Patriotic and Development Mission, an NGO, has condemned `continued disparaging remarks’ against Chairman, Police Service Commission (PSC), Mr Mike Okiro over alleged N275 million fraud.

The group made the condemnation in Abuja on Friday in a statement issued by its Executive Director, Mr Adefila Kamal.
It said that it was unfortunate that such remarks persisted even after Okiro had been cleared by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).

The organisation said there was no basis for Okiro to resign his appointment as canvassed in some quarters since anti-crime bodies did not indict him of any criminal liability in the alleged scandal.

“We submit with respect that Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), report written after proper investigations against Okiro , contained no criminal liability which can be righted by Okiro”, it said.
It would be recalled that one Solomon Kaase, a member of staff of PSC had in May petitioned the ICPC over alleged moves by Okiro to swindle the commission to the tune of N275 million.

Kaase had stated that the retired police boss claimed that the money would be used to train 900 PSC workers, whereas the Commission had only 391 staff.

However, ICPC in its report said there was no act of criminal infraction against Okiro as all the outlined issued in the petition were administrative in nature.

Why are there so many sponsored groups in Nigeria? The number seems to have increased massively during Jonathan administration. Isn’t time government look into these groups as some could be used for subversive activities?

It is not these so called groups that are at fault but newspapers such as Guardian that are parroting whatever they said irrespective of how outlandish and irrelevant to national building. I blame Guardian for being a useless newspaper of repute for reporting these thieves. How anyone can support a thief like Okiro is beyond me expect that they are his paid spokepersons
