Lagos State Government has been implored to remove all barriers to qualitative and inclusive education in order to have a better and developed society.

The call was made in Lagos, when a group, led by Human Development Initiatives (HDI), staged a walk from Allen Roundabout through Awolowo Road to the State Assembly to mark the 2019 Global Action Week on Education (GAWE) with the theme, ‘Making the right to an inclusive, equitable, quality, free public education a reality’.

As the group marched through the roads, they gave out fliers and displayed banners with different inscriptions.

The Executive Director, HDI, Mrs. Olufunso Owasanoye, stated that the march was meant to draw government’s attention to why qualitative and inclusive education is important and a right for all children.

She implored the state government to make all schools in Lagos qualitative and inclusive, adding that free qualitative and inclusive education is possible, if government is committed to it.

Lagos State Assembly Chairman, House Committee on Education, Hon. Lanre Ogunyemi commended the group for helping to draw attention to the need for qualitative and inclusive education.

He said the Assembly has always been concerned about raising the bar in the education sector, which is why the Assembly not only appropriate, but also ensures judicious use of funds meant for the sector.
