Group urges philanthropists to emulate Caleb in community development
A media advocacy group, Volunteer Media Advocacy for Accountable Leadership, has commended Dr. Ochimana Caleb Agboni Yunusa for his outstanding contributions to improving healthcare, education, and access to clean water in rural communities.
In a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Augustine Aminu, the group praised Dr. Caleb’s dedication to grassroots development and urged the government, corporate bodies, and well-meaning individuals to support similar initiatives.
“Dr. Caleb’s efforts are a shining example of how philanthropy can transform lives. His work has provided critical healthcare services, clean water, and better educational opportunities for thousands of people. We need more individuals and organizations to follow this path and invest in rural communities,” Aminu stated.
Dr. Caleb, a public health advocate and philanthropist, built a fully functional health center in Ogane-Uge, Kogi State, serving over 50,000 people across 15 communities. The facility provides essential medical services, including maternal and child healthcare, immunizations, and emergency care.
“Before this health center was established, residents had to travel long distances for basic medical treatment. Many lives were lost due to preventable conditions. Today, thanks to Dr. Caleb’s intervention, thousands now have access to quality healthcare,” Aminu added.
Recognizing the urgent need for clean water, Dr. Caleb also funded a borehole project, ensuring hundreds of households now have access to safe drinking water. This intervention has significantly reduced cases of waterborne diseases in the community.
“Access to clean water is a basic human right, yet many rural communities suffer from preventable illnesses due to contaminated sources. Dr. Caleb’s initiative has brought relief to many families, and we call on others to support similar projects,” the statement further noted.
In the education sector, Dr. Caleb has also made a lasting impact by donating textbooks to two primary schools, benefiting over 500 students who previously lacked access to proper learning materials.
“Education is the foundation for a better future. Dr. Caleb’s support has given these children the tools they need to learn and excel. We urge policymakers and private organizations to invest more in rural education,” Aminu stressed.
The advocacy group described Dr. Caleb’s contributions as life-changing and called for a collective effort to address the challenges facing underserved communities.
“While we celebrate Dr. Caleb’s efforts, rural development should not be left to individuals alone. The government, corporate organizations, and the public must step up and invest in sustainable solutions.”
