Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, casting his vote

• Gov gives school bags to brilliant secondary school pupils
• Reiterates administration’s commitment to quality education
• Ogun East League of Imams, Alfas endorses gov for second term

A group, Ogun Integrity Vanguard, has dismissed as fake news the story published by an online medium, Eagles Times, claiming that civil servants in Ogun State had resolved to vote Governor Dapo Abiodun out of office.

In a statement signed by its Secretary, Duro Thomas and made available to newsmen in Abeokuta, yesterday, the group, while describing the publication as a comedy taken too far, wondered why failed but desperate politicians would hide behind disreputable online blogs to purvey falsehood against a performing governor.

It said that like all mercantile outfits thriving on falsehood, innuendo and hearsay, the online medium gave itself away when it claimed that dissatisfied Ogun workers had resolved to vote for Biyi Otegbeye of the ADC, who it said, had given them a clear plan to solve salary and pensions problems in Ogun State.

The group, therefore, warned the ADC candidate to desist from using fake news to impugn the integrity of the governor, saying that such tactics could never stop the workers’ resolve to re-elect the governor for a second term.

Meanwhile, Abiodun has reiterated his administration’s commitment towards improving the educational pursuits of youths in the state.

He equally re-affirmed his administration’s commitment towards prioritising education, restoring standard and improving the quality of life of children in the state.

The governor, represented by Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, at the symbolic presentation of school bags to students of some selected schools in Ogun Central, West and East senatorial districts, said that the administration had done a lot to transform the education sector through the yellow roof school revolution, distribution of furniture, rewarding academic excellence, employment of OGUN TEACH interns to complement the existing teaching members of staff and the distribution of school bags, among others.

However, the Leagues of Imams and Alfas in Ijebu-Ode and Remoland have declared their support for the re-election of Abiodun.

Chief Imam of Ijebuland, Miftaudeen Gbadegesin Ayanbadejo, noted that Abiodun had done very well for the state.

despite the challenges faced as a result of COVID-19 and other economic challenges.

According to him, Abiodun would do more in the next four years.

Also speaking, Alhaji Abdul-Kadir Junaid, while praising the governor for the development the state had enjoyed in the last three and half years, commended him for looking out for the welfare of Muslim youths, the aged, artisans and widows.

On his part, the senator representing Ogun East and the Director-General of Dapo Abiodun Campaign Council, Senator Olalekan Mustapha, who commended the governor for embarking on the overall turnaround of infrastructure across the state, said: “It is always good to be prepared for higher offices like the governor.”

In his response, the governor, while commending the Imams and Alfas in Remoland and Ijebuland for their prayers and his endorsement for a second term, reminded them that he remained their son and that he would continue to be a capable administrator of resources of the state.
