ASHAFA-AgegeThe Agege Local Government has celebrated the country’s anniversary in a unique way that would keep the anniversary celebration alive in the memory of the people for a long time to come.

According to the Executive Secretary, Omofunmilewa Adejombo, it is a diversion from the normally school match past parade. The local government team started out with a visit to the orphanage from there they interacted, danced and ate with the wards of the orphanage from there they visited the beggars in area sharing foods and drinks to all.

The team came back to the local government, where pupils from primary schools, particularly, physically challenged children have been invited to celebrate the anniversary.

Speaking at the event in the Secretariat the council boss said it was resolved to celebrate with the special children, the beggars and the less privileged because they are also part of the citizenry that we are all obliged to be mindful of their welfare.

Adejombo, however, used the opportunity of the occasion to call on all Nigerians to reflect on the state of the nation and to ensure that all hands are on deck to change the present under developed and corrupt society as according to him, “our accomplishment as a nation has not totally matched the good fortune we are blessed with.”
