Imagine this: a content creator saves up for months, only to realise that the equipment she bought is fake or that she could have gotten the same product cheaper elsewhere. For decades, this has been the reality for many African photographers, videographers, and creators. But that is about to change with the launch of CameraHubs on December 1st, 2025.
“Too many times, creatives in Africa are left behind because they don’t have access to the right tools at the right prices,” says Eugin Joachin, the man behind the vision. “We want to end that cycle.”
CameraHubs is positioning itself as Africa’s first dedicated marketplace for camera, audio, and stage lighting equipment. Unlike generic e-commerce sites, it connects buyers directly to trusted dealers and manufacturers.
Joachin explained: “You don’t need to go through five middlemen anymore. If you’re a church in Nigeria, a music club in Ghana, or a filmmaker in Dakar, you can log on and deal directly with trusted dealers and manufacturers. It saves time, it saves money, and it guarantees quality.”
The platform will also host multiple shops, allowing buyers to compare prices, check out options, and make informed decisions. Beyond buying and selling, CameraHubs plans to host photo fairs, training workshops, and video resources to empower users with knowledge.
One Lagos-based photographer who previewed the platform shared his excitement. “Finally, someone understands what we go through. We spend so much money importing gear or dealing with fake products. If this works, it will be a game-changer,” he said.
For Joachin, the project is bigger than business. “This is about Africa telling its own story through high-quality content. How can our filmmakers compete with Hollywood if they can’t even get a durable tripod locally?” he asked.
With the creative economy expanding rapidly across Africa, industry experts believe CameraHubs is coming at the right time. Joachin summed it up simply: “We are not just selling cameras; we are giving Africans the tools to create, to inspire, and to compete globally.”
