Ikpeazu Tasks Women On Responsibilities
ABIA State governor’s wife, Nkechi Ikpeazu has enjoined women not to sacrifice their homes as mothers, in pursuit of professions and careers, stressing that they must strike a balance to ensure that their homes do not suffer in the quest for advancement, money of fame.
Speaking at this year’s Abia Women’s August Delegates Conference (AWADEC), she said the concept of AWADEC, was to create a paradigm shift that would make women and women groups at the community level seek self-realisation, become empowered psychologically, socially and economically so as to change their perception and be able to re-evaluate whatever projects they set out for themselves.
The criteria she said included identifying projects that have direct impact on women’s economic and social status, projects that will improve their knowledge and skills targeted across the spectrum of womanhood.
The programme with the theme: “Educating for Empowerment”, was the first Ikpeazu hosted as the governor’s wife. She noted that through the instrumentality of August meetings over the years, reasonable impacts were made in improving various communities and women groups including schools’ classrooms, health centers, markets, among others.
