Insecurity: Ekiti rep tasks govs on Tinubu’s forest guard initiative

A member of the House of Representatives, Mr. Fatoba Olusola Steve, has called on all state governors to support President Bola Tinubu for the prompt implementation of the Nigeria Forest Security Services.

According to Fatoba, the approval of the Nigeria Forest Security Services by President Tinubu was a timely initiative that would restore confidence in the agricultural sector, enhance security, and also empower farmers in stabilising food security.

Reacting to the President’s approval of the forest guard, the Chairman of the House Committee on Information, National Orientation, Ethics and Values in the House of Representatives, in a statement yesterday in Ado-Ekiti, said that what is required is maximum support for the newly established security outfit across the states to combat the menace of bandits and herdsmen.

While commending Tinubu for the quick intervention in solving security challenges, especially in securing the Nigerian forests, the lawmaker said the signing of the Forest Security initiative shows that the President is committed to the security of lives and property.

He advised the state government to complement the federal government’s efforts in stamping out illegal occupation of the country’s forests by encouraging the local people to embrace the development by participating in and engaging with the proposed exercise.

The lawmaker representing Ekiti Central Constituency II assured that Nigerians will soon heave a sigh of relief, especially farmers and residents living in the agrarian areas.

His words: “I wish to sincerely appreciate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his visionary leadership and approval of the Nigeria Forest Security Services.

“This bold and timely initiative is a significant step towards addressing the pressing challenges of insecurity, especially in our rural and agrarian communities.

“At a time when insecurity has deterred many from engaging in farming and discouraged foreign investment, this move will not only boost food security but also strengthen our economy through agriculture and non-oil financial inflows.

“It sends a strong signal to both citizens and the international community that Nigeria is committed to creating a safe and enabling environment for investment and growth,” he concluded.

He applauded the federal government for its forward-thinking decision to bring sustainable peace, economic development, and renewed hope to the nation.
