IPAC mourns Buhari, describes him as great patriot

The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has expressed deep sorrow over the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari, who passed away in London on Sunday, July 13, 2025.

In a condolence statement by its National Chairman, Dr. Yusuf Mamman Dantalle, IPAC described Buhari as a great patriot, elder statesman, and distinguished military general who dedicated his life to the service of Nigeria.

Dr. Dantalle noted that Buhari served the country with distinction both as a military Head of State from January 1984 to August 1985, and later as a democratically elected president from 2015 to 2023, a position he attained after three unsuccessful attempts in 2003, 2007, and 2011.

He described this journey as a remarkable testament to Buhari’s resilience, tenacity, and unwavering belief in democracy.

He said, “President Buhari was a man of integrity who championed the War Against Indiscipline (WAI) in our national life and confronted corruption head-on.

“IPAC mourns a great leader who contributed immensely to the socio-political development of the nation. His legacy will continue to inspire and motivate current and future leaders in the quest for a better and greater Nigeria.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with members of his immediate family, the Government and people of Katsina State, and the entire nation. May God give Nigerians the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.”
