Philanthropist and community leader, Oladipo Rilwan Jaji, has intensified his community development initiatives in Surulere, focusing on youth empowerment, education support, women’s development and welfare programmes.
Through the Dipo Jaji Foundation, Jaji has continued to roll out interventions aimed at improving the quality of life for residents, especially the vulnerable. His initiatives include youth football competitions, scholarship awards, rent support, vocational training for women, and community food drives during festive seasons.
The annual football tournaments organised by the foundation have become a platform for engaging young people, promoting unity and encouraging the development of local talent. Several youths have benefited from these programmes, which also aim to discourage social vices and foster community spirit.
In the education sector, Jaji has provided scholarships and school fee support for pupils and students across Lagos. Many families have also received rent assistance and relief materials through the foundation’s welfare scheme.
He has equally supported women and widows with business grants and vocational training designed to enhance self-reliance and economic independence. His foundation also conducts community outreaches during Christmas and Ramadan, distributing food items and providing other forms of support to low-income households.
Jaji, who was born and raised in Surulere, said the foundation’s goal is to promote sustainable community development through targeted, people-centred interventions. “Service to humanity is not seasonal — it’s a lifelong responsibility,” he said.
Since its establishment, the foundation has also facilitated skill acquisition programmes and job placement assistance for young people. Jaji’s efforts have earned him wide recognition at the community level for his consistent engagement and impact
