Kano gov considers partnership with Netherlands on food security, climate change

Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, is seeking support from The Netherlands to accelerate agricultural production and mitigate the impact of climate change in the state.

Then governor disclosed the proposed diplomatic synergy with the Dutch government when he played host to Ms Eva De Wit, the First Secretary of Migration at the Embassy of the Kingdom of Netherlands in Nigeria.

Spokesperson to the Governor, Sanusi Bature, said his principal emphasised the impact-driven landmark The Netherlands recorded on agriculture and climate change.

According to him, Yusuf, who was passionate about the astronomical rate of agricultural development in The Netherlands, expressed his administration’s willingness to cement the partnership for replication of the recipe in Kano.

While intimating to the Dutch delegation of the devastating impact of drug abuse, Yusuf said 24 skill acquisition centres had been reopened to gainfully empower the youth.

Ms De Wit, who was accompanied by the Chief of Mission, International Organisation for Migration (IOM), Laurent De Boeck, pledged to collaborate with the Kano government in the areas of youth empowerment, food security and climate change.
