The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo, has set up a dedicated team to engage with Finland on Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), training and manpower development.
A statement by the Special Adviser on Media and Communications to the minister, Tunde Moshood, said Keyamo set up the dedicated team after Finland’s Ambassador to Nigeria, Sanna Selin, paid him a courtesy call in his office in Abuja.
The Finnish envoy was accompanied by James Gardiner, Sales Representative of Vaisala, a leading Finnish technology company. According to the statement, the ambassador had earlier highlighted the strides of Finnish companies in advancing aviation technologies, particularly in areas of training, manpower development, and the promotion of SAF.
She emphasised Finland’s readiness to collaborate with Nigeria in fostering innovation and knowledge transfer that would strengthen the aviation industry.
Keyamo, in his response, reaffirmed the commitment of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration to partnerships that would not only build capacity and enhance the skills of Nigerian aviation professionals, but also secure a sustainable future for the sector through the adoption of cleaner and more efficient technologies.
The minister also reiterated that the ministry was focused on leveraging international collaborations to modernise Nigeria’s aviation sector, boost efficiency, and align with global best practices in sustainability.
