Kogi State’s Commissioner for Information, Kingsley Fanwo, has accused Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of inciting violence during her homecoming rally in Ihima, Okehi LGA, despite security restrictions.
Akpoti-Uduaghan, who arrived by helicopter to a cheering crowd, claimed in a viral video that Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo, and former Governor Yahaya Bello were plotting her assassination.
Fanwo condemned her remarks, warning they could have triggered violent confrontations. “If the supporters of the other principal political actors had reacted, yesterday would have been so bloody,” he told TVC on Wednesday.
“You are accusing the Senate President, the former governor, and the current governor of planning an assassination against your person, and you were even giving graphic explanations of how it would happen,” he added. “This was aimed at inciting her people and also eliciting reactions from the supporters of the other principal actors.”

The Kogi government had earlier banned political rallies, citing security concerns. Fanwo defended the decision, saying it was necessary to prevent a breakdown of law and order. “The government took a responsible step by ensuring that there was no crisis,” he said.
Akpoti-Uduaghan’s supporters, however, argue that the restrictions unfairly target opposition figures. The senator, a fierce critic of the ruling party, has frequently clashed with the state’s leadership, with tensions escalating ahead of the next electoral cycle.
