Nigerian Union of Pensioners (NUP) Kogi State Council has given the State Head of Service Moses Atakpa 24 hours within which to retract a statement that pensioners are enjoying harmonized pensions.
State chairman of NUP, Mr. Onu Abdullahi at a press conference in Lokoja said the head of service told lies to the people.

“We should have asked for his resignation, but we are giving him the next 24 hours to retract his statement. The state government has never harmonized us since 2004 and between 2004 till date despite the fact that there were series of Salary review for civil servants.”

He said the pensioners are preparing for the mother of all protests in the State.
Abdullahi indicated that the Head of service went on air to tell the whole world that pensions have been harmonized in Kogi State, which was a blanket lie.

“We have never seen a man heading the civil service of this State that will go on air to tell the world a very serious lie, a lie that affects human existence.”
Meanwhile, the state government has inaugurated a world-class institute for technical and vocational training in Lokoja

The Nigeria-Korea Friendship Institute of Vocational Training and Advancement Technology, which is a joint project by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and the Kogi State Government is regarded as a huge boost to technical education in Nigeria.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, which also had the Korean Republic Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Noh Kyu-Duk in attendance, Governor Idris Wada described the institute as a model for technical and technological training that is equipped to produce the best technical manpower to support industrial revolution in Kogi, Nigeria and indeed the continent of Africa.

He said, “This institute is a world class institute and every effort will be made to ensure that graduates from the institute are of world standard and will be able to compete favourably with their peers in any part of the world.”
