Lagos Assembly to ensure efficient health care delivery
Mr Segun Olulade, the Chairman of Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Health, on Sunday said that the committee would ensure more efficiency in health care delivery in the state.
Olulade told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that the Assembly was committed to bringing about a revolution in the health care sector.
“I want to assure residents that the health sector in Lagos State will witness a revolution that will bring in efficiency and care.
“We will ensure unparalleled health services as far as Nigeria and Africa is concerned.
“We are committed to this promise as we are going to perform our oversight functions as expected.
“We will look into areas that people have been making complaints, especially the attitude of the health care providers.
“All hands must be on deck; It is our collective responsibility to ensure that we deliver better health care services to residents”.
According to him, anybody who does not have business in the health sector should be prepared to leave the service.
Olulade, however, assured that committed health providers would be adequately supported and rewarded.
The lawmaker said that all members and principal officers of the House were prepared to ensure access to good health by the public.
“I am sure that the governor of Lagos State is also committed to ensuring access to good health care services by all.
“So, we will do all within our power to ensure that the health sector receives adequate support to enhance service delivery,” he said.
Olulade said that the committee would ensure that adequate financial allocations were made to the sector to enhance accessibility to health services by the people.
The lawmaker stressed that the committee would come up with policies and laws that would promote transformation in the sector.

it will be unwise to make health care delivery speeches without taking an inventory of personnel, infrastructure and the health care model the committee intends to use to succeed .first what is the health policy.second is it up to date? the health care providers are aging and cannot easily be replaced with young replacements due to the experience level of young service providers.does the committee really want a general hospital in every local government? what is the policy document on primary health that the house needs to enact into law?has the house considered updating the 5+year old heath care reform document.and more over how about the reward process.?taking it to the top,how come your party did not present a long suffering commissioner who handled the ebola crisis as a minister for health for nigeria and the md who assisted him as a commissioner?sometimes we forget those who do well only to punish them when any problem surfaces(collective). please spare us empty rhetoric until you know what your oversight functions will be. i have been there so i know
We will review and take appropriate action.
