Lagos govt tells protesters ‘go home, don’t repeat #EndSARS’

Lagos State government has tell protesters to go home and not repeat the same pattern of the #EndSARS of 2020, reiterating the fact that the government has heard them and they will take action.

This was revealed by the commissioner for information and strategy, Honourable Gbenga Omotosho, while speaking to protesters at the Ojota axis, of the state.

The commissioner told protesters that the governor is listening and has heard their agitation, but they should allow him take action and not repeat the same incident that happened during the #EndSARS protest.

“The government has heard your demands, now is the time to go home, it is not until he comes to the street to talk to will you know, Mr. Sanwo Olu has been engaging even before the protest and he is ever engaging, religiously, you have done the right thing, but also let him take into action, let us not repeat the incidence of the #EndSARS protest, don’t let enemies of the state hijack the protest”

Gbenga Omotosho highlighted the dangers of continuous protest, which can disrupt the flow of economic activities, and more importantly the security of the state. He also tell Lagosians to relax that curfew will not be declared in the state, while speaking to reporters.

‘That is not the way to go’, he answered, about wether or not curfew will be declared. in the state. Meanwhile, he also debunked rumours about the Oro as a way of preventing protesters from protesting.

“This is Lagos, and it has its culture, people spreading fake news should not put you into panic mode, the Oro is consulted in the state to know about proceedings and this is tradition’ he said.

The #endbadgovernance protest has entered its second day, and protesters in many parts of the country are taking to the streets to air their grievances. The protest is scheduled to last for 15-days, starting on the 1st of August.
