Lawmaker commends INEC, security agents for ensuring transparent process
Rep. Khadijat Bukar (APC-Yobe) on Sunday commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies for ensuring transparent elections in the country.
Bukar, who represents Damaturu, Gujba, Tarmuwa Federal Constituency, made the commendation in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Damaturu.
She said: “The whole process is commendable; INEC and the security agencies have done us proud by maintaining law and order in Yobe State and the country at large.’’
The presence of the law enforcement agencies, especially the police and members of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCD), had helped to ensure a rancour free exercise.
She urged the security agents to be neutral and objective, to uphold national interest.
The lawmaker also applauded the people of Yobe, especially IDPs, for turning out en masse to discharge their civic responsibilities in spite of the persistence of security challenge.
She called on the Federal Government to design and marshal a plan for the rehabilitation of places affected by insurgency in the Northeast.
Bukar, however, appealed to politicians to accept the outcome of the election in good faith, to sustain the peace enjoyed during the March 28 elections across the country.
