As part of its community service initiatives, the Lagos Golden Heart Lions Club has donated N5 million to the Pediatric Cancer Ward of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH).
The donation is aimed at easing the financial burden on families struggling to afford cancer treatment for their children. The initiative, themed “Healing Hearts, Saving Lives,” was unveiled as part of the club’s projects for the 2024/2025 Lions Year.
Speaking at the donation event, the District Governor for District 404-B4 Nigeria, Lion Taiwo Oladayo Fatoki, emphasised the importance of supporting young cancer patients.
“We aim to ease the financial pressure on families and ensure that children facing cancer have access to the medical care they need,” he stated. Hospital officials expressed gratitude for the gesture, adding that the impact of such contributions would improve healthcare access for vulnerable patients.
They noted that the contribution will go a long way in helping families who cannot afford essential treatment for their children.
