
A 64-year-old man, Peter Osoniyi, on Thursday appeared before an Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court , Ibadan, for alleged N10.7 million property fraud.
Osoniyi, who resides in Ikolaba area of Ibadan, is facing a four-count charge bordering on fraud and stealing, to which he pleaded not guilty.
The Prosecutor, Cpl. Akeem Akinloye, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Jan. 10 at 4.30 p.m. at Aponmade area of Ibadan.

Akinloye said the defendant collected N10 million from the complainant, Mr. Isiaka Olajide, that he would sell him a two bedroom flat, a representation he knew was false.
He said that the defendant also collected N700, 000 from the complainant for a plot of land at Adigun village, Badeku, which he failed to deliver.
Akinloye said the defendant collected the money through his Access Bank Account Number 0789219123.
“The defendant converted the monies he collected to his own use,” the prosecutor said.

He said that the offences contravened Section 390 (9) and 419 of the Criminal Law of Oyo State, 2000.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Olabisi Ogunkanmi, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N5 million with two sureties in like sum.
Ogunkanmi said one of the sureties must own a property within the court’s jurisdiction, while the second sureties should be a blood relation of defendant with evidence of two years tax clearance.
She adjourned the case until June 26 for mention.
