Minister commends military on recovery of Madagali, others

FOLLOWING the successful recovery of Madagali and other remaining territories in Adamawa State from the Islamist terrorist group, Boko Haram, the Minister of Youth Development, Boni Haruna, has commended the Nigerian military for demonstrating “uncommon patriotism and courage.”
He also commended President Goodluck Jonathan for fulfilling his promise to Nigerians and the international community that before the rescheduled elections, territories under the control of the terrorists would be recovered to guarantee peaceful and transparent elections in all parts of the country.
Haruna, in statement yesterday in Abuja, disclosed that the recovery of Mildo, Sabon Gari, Gulba and Madagali – all in Adamawa State – could only be appreciated against the background of President Jonathan’s commitment to protecting the nation’s territorial integrity. In view of that, he implored all inhabitants of the recovered territories to return to their communities, assuring that government would do the needful to rebuild their communities. He further called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to begin preparations for actual voting in these areas, as the people have strong desire to perform their civic responsibility in their communities.
He reiterated the need Mr. President’s re-election so that he could fulfill his pledge of rebuilding their communities post-insurgency.
