The Muslim Association of Nigeria (MAN) has extended heartfelt condolences to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Nigerians over the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR.
In a condolence letter, jointly signed by its National President, Professor Dhikru Yagboyaju, and National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Mudirakat Ajibona, the association described Buhari as a leader who embodied truth, integrity, and discipline.
According to the group, the news of the former president’s death, though painful, is a reminder of the inevitability of death, quoting the Qur’an 21:56: “Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un” — “Indeed, to Allah we belong and to Him is our return.”
The association recalled that Buhari, who served as Nigeria’s President from 2015 to 2023, governed during a particularly challenging period in the country’s history, marked by economic difficulties, the COVID-19 pandemic, and deteriorating infrastructure. Despite these challenges, the body noted, Buhari’s government made enduring contributions to national development.
“President Muhammadu Buhari, also known as Mai Gaskiya – one who stands for the truth – was known for his Spartan lifestyle and his abhorrence for corruption and abuse of office,” the statement read. “We are also aware that President Buhari was not only your predecessor in office but also a political ally to Your Excellency.”
The Muslim association pledged its continued prayers for President Tinubu’s administration and the peaceful repose of the late former president’s soul in Al-Jannah Firdaus.
The group reaffirmed its commitment to national values by promoting good conduct and denouncing unethical and antisocial behaviour.
“We stand for the overall good of Nigeria, its citizens and residents,” the statement concluded.
