NAF’s airstrikes kill 15 terrorist, destroy dozens hideouts in Borno, Yobe

Sokoto youths threaten self-defence
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has said its airstrikes have killed no fewer than 15 Boko Haram terrorists in an identified hideout of Zuwa in Sambisa Forest of Borno and Yobe states.

Its spokesman, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, in a statement yesterday in Maiduguri, said: “The multiple airstrikes were based on our intelligence and surveillance reconnaissance that confirmed the active presence of Boko Haram commanders and their fighters at Zuwa hideout.”

IN Sokoto, youths of Shagari Local Council have threatened to take up arms in self-defence following pervasive insecurity in their communities.

In a statement yesterday by youth activist Bello Bala Shagari, it was indicated that an online meeting of Shagari youths expressed deep concern over what they described as the government’s failure to protect lives and property in their communities.

They lamented that bandit attacks, which have persisted for months, have displaced families, crippled farming activities, and left many residents living in fear.

Shagari, a grandson of former Nigerian President Shehu Shagari, said the youths had reached “a last-resort decision” to defend themselves and their communities in the face of relentless attacks and humiliation.
