NAWC celebrates as army decorates first female Warrant Officer

The Nigerian Army Women Command (NAWC) has described the decoration of the first female Army Warrant Officer, Hajara Egbunu, as a sign of great things to come for the womenfolk in the military.
The Commander of the Nigerian Army Women Command, Brigadier General Mathias Amatso, decorated Egbunu with her new rank badge during a ceremony held at the Command Conference Room in Abuja.
According to a statement released by the Nigerian Army, the landmark achievement marks a significant step forward for gender inclusion in the Nigerian Army.
Brigadier General Amatso stressed that Egbunu’s promotion was a reflection of her hard work and urged her to continue setting an example by upholding discipline and inspiring younger soldiers, aligning with the core values of the Nigerian Army.
In her acceptance speech, Army Warrant Officer Egbunu expressed her delight at becoming the first female soldier from the elite Infantry Corps and the Nigerian Army Women Command to attain the prestigious rank of Army Warrant Officer.
She also expressed gratitude to God and the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General OO Oluyede, for his visionary leadership and support in facilitating her career advancement.
