Mr John-Kennedy Opara, the Executive Secretary of Nigeria Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC), has called on ground handlers and air carriers to ensure excellent service delivery to Nigerian pilgrims.

This is contained in a statement in Abuja on Friday signed by the Head of Media in NCPC, Mr Celestine Ogugua.

The statement said that Opara made the call at a meeting with NCPC management, National Assembly delegates, ground handlers and air carriers at the Nigerian Embassy, Tel Aviv, Israel.

Opara commended ground handlers and air carriers for their services over the years and urged them to do more, especially in the areas of improving the local content of pilgrimage.

The executive secretary urged the Israelis to partner with Nigerian pilgrims to ensure that the pilgrims were catered for under the most convenient atmosphere.

He said that the four pilgrimages of the year afforded pilgrims the opportunity to witness places where Jesus lived before his death and understand the sacrifices Christ made on the cross.

Opara said that the commission had a viable Spirituality Committee which had been working tirelessly to see that the spiritual content of pilgrimage was maintained.

He commended the Israelis for equipping the clinic in the Nigerian embassy to meet the medical needs of pilgrims and save them the cost of medical attention in other hospitals.

The Chairman of Nigeria-Israel Cooperation Group, Mr Gideon Gwani, also advised ground handlers and their tour guides to be accurate in their explanation to the pilgrims of the Holy sites during tours.

Shadia Srour, the Assistant Manager, Tabar Tours, expressed the determination of the organisation to always serve Nigerian pilgrims effectively.
