NEMA establishes three IDP centres

AHEAD of the elections beginning March 28 the Owerri Office of National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), has provided three centres in the state to take care of Internally Displaced Persons(IDPs)

Disclosing this on Tuesday during a sensitization programme for the leaders and candidates of the political parties, on the theme “Preventing Electoral Violence in 2015 General Elections’ jointly organized by the NEMA and the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and National Orientation

Agency (NOA), held at the Ohaji/Egbema Local Council, , the Coordinator of the Owerri Operations office of the agency, Dr. Innocent Ezeaku, said the centres were located in Orlu, Owerri and Okigwe zones.

He also urged the leaders of the parties to embrace peace before, during and after polls.

He said that materials and stockpiled food materials would be provided for the would – be victims, adding that the agency had sent a budget proposal to the Imo State government for financial assistance.
