THE National Executive Director, Community Base Development Centre, a non-governmental organisation, Alhaji Hashimu Sanusi, has called on Nigerians to continue praying for peace and stability of the country throughout the transition period.

In a statement in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital, and signed by Sanusi, the Centre also said that the emergence of Gen. Buhari as Nigeria’s President-elect would hopefully reclaim the nation’s image in eyes of global community.

He noted that through past years, the good image of Nigeria as the largest and the most populous economy in Africa has been diminishing as “we are generally identified as one of the largest corrupt nations in the world.”

While congratulating Buhari as a gallant fighter, he also hailed Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega, for making history for himself and for the country as he now improves the nation’s image within the comity of nations.

Sanusi observes that though it is natural to celebrate in the moment of happiness, “but we should be cautious to avoid actions that could lead to loss of lives and property.”

Regretting that many have lost their lives in the name of celebrating for Buhari’s victory, he said: “I am sure the celebrant would not be happy to hear that lives are being lost during this joyful moment.”
