Broadcast station cries out over looted items

Radio Station

Management of the first FM radio station in Taraba State has raised the alarm over the effect of its loss to burglars.

Corporate office of the radio station in Jalingo, the state capital, was among the numerous offices and stores looted at the weekend.

One of the directors, Ahmad Gassol, stated: “We wish to notify the general public that our corporate office at Malam Joda Area of Jalingo was looted by hoodlums in the late hours of Friday, July 21, 2023 into the early hours of Saturday.

“The hoodlums stormed our office premises, carting away several items, while the Chief Executive Officer, Ayodele Samuel, was in one of the offices. He was rescued unscathed by the Department of State Services (DSS) and Army personnel, who responded to a distress call.”

While noting that the raid left the CEO traumatised, the medium was grateful to God, as well as the security operatives that neutralised two of the attackers.

Items reportedly looted by the hoodlums include two televisions (43 inches and 50 inches), three Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) gadgets and eight-channel digital audio mixer.

He pleaded: “We want to seek public cooperation in recovering these items, as they are critical to our operations.”

About 40 hoodlums, recently, went about breaking and looting warehouses, stores and offices in Jalingo. While two were killed by security operatives, two are cooling their heels in police custody.
